In the hustle and bustle of Christmas, don’t lose the joy! Christ is the focus of Christmas and we are not to take our eyes off of that as He is our joy!
We can get so easily distracted about what gifts to buy, the cookie baking, the holiday gathering and even our family traditions that we can lose sight of what the meaning of Christmas is all about.
For example, just go shopping on Black Friday and you’ll see that our priorities are all mixed up as we see fights over the last clearance item at the store or pushing in line to get that certain item. Last year my dad and mom had a TV in their cart ready to buy and someone came and stole it out from under them while my mom had her hand on the cart. It is crazy how materials can rob the joy of Christmas and cause us to lose our focus. Our focus needs to be on Christ and all that He has given us! God sent his Son and was born on Christmas for all of us to enjoy and to have the opportunity of salvation! This joy of Christmas is not just a happy feeling, but true inner joy of knowing we have a Savior that brings life and light to our world and in us called JOY!
Don’t underestimate the importance of Christmas and how our joy is found in Him and Him alone. Joy is NOT found in people, things, or even this world! Complete joy is found in our Savior and that is why we celebrate Christmas. The joy of the Lord is our strength each and every day! When you experience that joy you will not want anything else and nothing can fill that void in your heart of joy but Christ. This Christmas, step back and find the joy in HIM and slow down and enjoy the reason we celebrate this special season. It is in HIM we find our joy and we better not lose it this Christmas.
